Candidates for Kids at First Coast Forum
A non-partisan information exchange for all candidates for state and local elected office, community leaders, media and business professionals, child advocates, and concerned citizens met on Wednesday morning at the First Coast Forum held at the Jessie Ball duPont Center Lecture Hall. Roy Miller, President of The Children’s Campaign welcomed and introduced the candidates then Laura Alexionok, President of Voices For Florida took the stage and spoke about restoring the American dream for Florida’s children. Other presentations were given on Mental Health, Child Welfare, Juvenile
Justice and Girls.
The Children’s Campaign and The Delores Barr Weaver Policy Center hosted the forum. The Children’s Campaign is Florida’s leading child advocacy organization. What most differentiates The Children’s Campaign from other child advocacy organizations is they advocate for the “whole child” – and are not a single-issue organization. Since 1992, The Children’s Campaign has led or championed major reforms for Florida’s children.
The Delores Barr Weaver Policy Center provides cutting edge advocacy, research, training/technical assistance and model programming to bring about unprecedented systemic reform for girls and young women in or at risk of entering the juvenile justice and child welfare systems in Northeast Florida.
We are All Human
Steven Machat, Independent candidate for US Senate attended the event, listened to the plans and processes presented at the forum which blended perfectly with his I AM HUMAN message. Machat is on the road meeting Florida constitutes and spreading his campaign mantra of equality and happiness for all. His uniqueness is that he is unafraid to speak the truth and is ready to carry that truth into the Senate.
